Steak Dusted Hoagies Recipe

Ingredients
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup finely chopped celery
- 1/3 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 8 oz (2 cups) sliced fresh mushrooms
- 1 pound ground beef OR ground pork
- 2 tsp Durkee® Steak Dust Seasoning
- 1 tsp Durkee® Thyme, Leaves
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 8 hoagie rolls, split
- 1 cup red, green OR yellow bell pepper strips
- 8 slice cheddar OR provolone cheese
Directions
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat; add onions and celery. Sauté 5 minutes. Add remaining oil and mushrooms. Continue to sauté over medium heat 5 to 7 minutes until mushrooms are cooked through. Remove vegetables from skillet.
- Add ground meat, seasoning, thyme and salt to skillet; cook 8 to 10 minutes over medium heat until no longer pink. Stir in flour; pour in water. Stir with spatula until sauce is thickened; add sour cream and reserved vegetables and heat through.
- Evenly divide meat mixture between hoagie rolls. Top with bell pepper strips and cheese slice. Broil sandwiches 6 inches from element until cheese is melted and slightly browned. Serve immediately.
